Gentle, Therapeutic Yoga to Support Health & Well-Being
At Magnus Health & Wellness, we offer yoga therapy–informed classes and private sessions designed to support mobility, nervous system regulation, stress management, and overall well-being. Our approach is gentle, accessible, and grounded in therapeutic principles rather than performance-based yoga.

Most classes and private sessions are led by Yan, our yoga therapist, in our Arbutus Studio in Richmond and are suitable for individuals seeking a more personalized, supportive yoga experience — including those managing pain, stress, or ongoing health concerns.

This class is designed to support the body and nervous system through seasonal transitions. As light, temperature, energy levels, and daily rhythms shift across the year, our internal landscape often shifts as well. Yoga for the Season offers space to explore and honour these transitions, orient inward, and adapt with greater steadiness and resilience.

Practices are tailored to the needs of the current season and may include:

-
Grounding and regulating movement
-
Gentle or more energetic movement based on the season and individual needs
-
Yin-based postures
-
Restorative shapes supported by props
-
Pranayama (breathing practices) aligned with seasonal rhythms
-
Guided relaxation or meditation

Each session emphasizes balance, nourishment, and nervous system support, helping you stay connected and resourced as the seasons change. Specific themes and focuses for the current season are outlined in the class description when booking.

This class is well suited for people experiencing stress, fatigue, burnout, chronic tension, or periods of increased demand, and it pairs well with more active movement practices or busy schedules.

Yoga Therapy (with Yan)

Yoga therapy sessions with Yan offer individualized support through gentle movement, breath practices, and guided awareness. Sessions are tailored to your goals and may be especially supportive for those managing specific or ongoing health concerns that are not typically addressed in a general group class.
Meet Yan — Our Yoga Therapist
Yan has been passionate about natural healing from a young age. After attending her first yoga class in 2015, she quickly developed a deep connection to the practice and its therapeutic potential.

She completed her first yoga teacher training in China in 2016 and began teaching shortly thereafter. As her teaching evolved, Yan became increasingly interested in understanding the human body more deeply. This led her to pursue additional training in anatomy, myofascial release, breathing patterns, joint mechanics, Pilates, personal training, and Zumba.

After immigrating to Canada, Yan completed a second 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2023 and went on to specialize in Yoga Therapy. She has completed the Foundations of Yoga Therapy Certificate and the Advanced Yoga Therapy Diploma, and is currently a Yoga Therapist in training, with her C-IAYT case study scheduled for completion in February 2025 through the Vancouver School of Healing Arts.

Yan chose to specialize in chronic pain during her yoga therapy studies, as this area resonated most deeply with her personal and professional experience. Having lived with chronic pain for over 15 years, she brings compassion, understanding, and strong motivation to her work. She finds great fulfillment in supporting clients as they reduce pain, reconnect with their bodies, and improve their quality of life.

Outside of her clinical work and studies, Yan volunteers as a group facilitator with Pain BC. She enjoys reading, camping with her dogs, and spending time with animals — she currently has three dogs and two cats. Yan also loves traveling, both locally and internationally, to explore new places, cultures, and cuisines.
