Skin-Focused Treatments to Support Natural Renewal

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment offered at our Richmond, BC clinic for clients seeking support with skin texture, tone, and overall appearance. Using a specialized microneedling device, controlled micro-channels are created in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural repair processes and support healthy skin renewal.

Microneedling works with the body’s own healing response. While some clients notice changes after a single session, the most meaningful and lasting results are typically seen through a series of treatments. For concerns such as skin texture, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and collagen support, a series of 4–6 microneedling sessions, spaced approximately 6–8 weeks apart, is often recommended. This timing allows the skin to heal fully between sessions and supports gradual collagen development, which continues for several weeks following each treatment.

Treatment recommendations are always discussed collaboratively. Your practitioner will tailor the plan based on your skin, goals, and how your skin responds over time, adjusting treatment pacing to support healthy, sustainable results.

About Microneedling

What Microneedling Can Support

Microneedling may support improvements in:

Overall skin texture and tone

Fine lines and early signs of aging

Acne scarring, uneven skin surface, hyperpigmentation

Dull or tired-looking skin

Skin firmness and elasticity

The appearance of enlarged pores

Treatments are personalized based on your skin, goals, and comfort level, with a focus on gradual, natural-looking results rather than dramatic or abrupt change.

Microneedling at Magnus Health & Wellness is performed using the Dermaroller® system, a well-established microneedling device used to support controlled skin stimulation and renewal.

How Microneedling Works

Microneedling works by creating controlled micro-channels in the surface layers of the skin using a precision microneedling device. These micro-channels activate the skin’s natural repair response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, two key components involved in skin structure and resilience.

As the skin responds to this controlled stimulation, several supportive processes may occur:

  • Increased collagen and elastin activity over time

  • Improved circulation to the treated area

  • Enhanced skin renewal and tissue remodeling

  • Improved absorption of topical serums applied during treatment

Because microneedling works with the body’s natural healing mechanisms, changes typically develop gradually across a series of treatments, rather than immediately. Treatments are adjusted based on your skin type, goals, and comfort level to ensure a safe and supportive experience.

What to Expect From a Microneedling Session

Microneedling sessions are designed to be thorough, comfortable, and personalized.

Appointments typically last approximately 80 minutes for facial microneedling with acupuncture support. Additional time may be added if the neck and/or décolleté are included in your treatment.

For first-time microneedling clients, a topical numbing cream is often used to support comfort. Clients who are familiar with microneedling - either through previous treatments at our clinic or elsewhere - may have the option to apply numbing cream in advance or choose to proceed without it, depending on comfort and preference. These options can help streamline treatment time without affecting the quality of care.

Before your session, you’ll have time to review your goals and ask any questions. After treatment, you may experience temporary redness or warmth, similar to a mild sunburn. Your practitioner will provide clear after-care guidance and a take-home care kit to support skin recovery and results.

Your comfort and consent lead the way at every step.

Looking for a More Integrated Approach?

Some clients choose to combine microneedling with other services at Magnus Health & Wellness, depending on their goals:

  • Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture - supports circulation & Qi, muscle tone, and whole-body balance

  • Acupuncture - supports stress regulation, hormonal balance, and overall well-being

Facial Acupuncture vs Microneedling

Both facial rejuvenation acupuncture and microneedling support skin health, but they work in different ways and may be suited to different goals.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

Facial acupuncture focuses on supporting circulation, muscle tone, and overall balance using traditional acupuncture techniques. Treatments take a whole-body approach and may support skin appearance alongside concerns such as stress, sleep, and nervous system regulation.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture may be a good fit if you’re looking for:

  • A gentle, holistic approach to skin health

  • Support for facial muscle tension or jaw-related tightness

  • A treatment that considers overall well-being, not just the skin

Microneedling

Microneedling is a skin-focused treatment that works directly with the surface layers of the skin to support collagen production and skin renewal. It may be chosen for concerns related to texture, tone, and scarring.

Microneedling may be a good fit if you’re looking for:

  • Targeted support for skin texture or acne scarring

  • A treatment focused primarily on skin renewal

  • Gradual, visible improvements over a series of sessions

Choosing the Right Option

Some clients choose one approach, while others combine both as part of a personalized care plan. Rose offers both facial rejuvenation acupuncture and microneedling, and can help guide you toward the option - or combination - that best fits your skin goals, health history, and comfort level. If you’re unsure where to start, you’re welcome to reach out and discuss what might be most appropriate for you.

Meet Rose — Our Acupuncturist

Languages: English • German

Rose has been interested in health and natural approaches to care from a young age. After experiencing acupuncture firsthand for a chronic condition, she was drawn to the way Traditional Chinese Medicine considers the whole person - body, mind, and overall balance.

She completed the five-year Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine program at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver. Her work is grounded in thoughtful, individualized care, with a clinical focus on musculoskeletal health, digestion, hormonal balance, nervous system regulation, and skin health.

As a Registered Acupuncturist, Rose offers both facial rejuvenation acupuncture and microneedling, allowing her to take an integrated approach to skin care. Her microneedling treatments focus on the face, neck, and décolleté, supporting concerns such as skin texture, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, and collagen induction. Where appropriate, she incorporates a brief, individualized body acupuncture component to support overall balance and recovery - a portion of which may be eligible for insurance coverage.

Rose is passionate about helping people improve their quality of life through acupuncture and enjoys empowering clients with practical lifestyle guidance informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine principles.

Outside the clinic, you’ll often find her spending time outdoors with her family, reading, or experimenting with new recipes.
